In Rosenwiller in the Bas-Rhin, on March 9, 2015, at 03:20 p.m., he made a 5 minutes observation of what he thinks was a "surprising UFO phenomenon."
The sky was quite cloudy with streaks of cirrus and cirrostratus few. The ground temperature was 16°C.
From his left, he saw what first appeared to him to be a plane that moved West-South-West to the East-Northeast. From his place of observation, the object was at an angle of about 45 °.
It had the appearance of a cylinder having had the proportions of an Airbus 319 airliner, its speed was comparable to the speed of such an airliner flying at an altitude of about 20,000 feet i.e. about 6,000 meters. The speed and direction were constant throughout the observation.
He realized that on one hand the aircraft did not leave any trail behind it; which seems understandable to him according to its estimated altitude, but on the other hand it emitted strictly no sound although it was seen from a country path with no noise disturbance.
Moreover, he did not distinguish wings, and its appearance gave it a quite bright and uniform metallic luster. He believes that despite the proximity of the Entzheim airport, it is certain that the object was not approaching it.
His wife, who accompanied him, made the same findings.

About the trajectory ou indicate (WSW --> ENE) and in the time frame specified three planes passed above th area before landing in Entzheim: - SN3661 az ~ 03: 20 p.m. The only criterion that would eliminate these planes from your observation is the angle of elevation (height in the sky, horizon = 0 °, 90 ° = above your head) under which you have seen the craft. The witness thinks obviously about an airliner, but discards it citing these reasons:
- The lack of noise
- The lack of visible wings
(He explains himself the absence of a contrail. An airliner on landing approaching obviously leaves no trail usually.)
At the closest of Rosenwiller, an airliner preparing to land at Entzheim, thus following the yellow line on the above map, would have been approximately 5 km away from the witnesses. At such a distance, there is nothing which precludes that its noise is not heard.
The absence of visible wings is not at all unique to this observation. Either by their albédo similar to that of the sky, either because the airliner is seen from the side, the wings of an airliner are not always visible. There remains a "cylinder" or "cigar", described here with a "quite brilliant and uniform metallic luster." The color of the wings and tail is often different from the fuselage for airliners, it is often unpainted, metallic, reflecting the sky, while the body is usually painted.
The witness said he was certain that the thing is not approaching the Entzheim airport. At the same time, he said it was going West-South-West to East-Northeast, which perfectly matches the yellow line of the runway approach to Entzheim.
Coincidentally, it turns out that "Wapacou", on the web forum where the witness testified, found a plane there at precisely at 03:20 p.m., flight SN3661, and another one, flight SF3018, there at 03:26 p.m. The witness does not report any planes in addition to his UFO.
There remained the 50° of elevation. But is it reliable? When questioned, the witness does not respond, and he actually answered no question at all on the web forum - as if he had realized he had seen an airliner.
The Entzheim runway is sufficiently far away for obstacles to the view and distance to prevent the witness to see a descent . The sighting duration of 5 minutes may be overestimated, but still possible if the thing was first seen very far in the West-southwest.
So what do we have to doubt that the witness actually saw the side of an airliner 5 kilometers from him on landing approach of the Entzheim airport? Nothing.
