ALSACAT:

As its name suggests, ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Case the Donon, in 2011:

Case number:

ALSACAT-2011-00-00-LEDONON-1

Summary:

On December 4, 2017, I received a non-anonymous email from someone who saw that I was posting about UFO sightings on the web, and who informed me had seen a possible UFO in the year 2011, at an exact date he did not remember.

At the Donon Pass, between midnight and 1:00 a.m., he was looking at the stars, as he likes to do, when he saw that there was a red light in the sky, which initially did not move. So he thought it was Mars.

But slowly it started to move, then it followed a sort of zigzag up and down several times very quickly, then it left in straight line at lightning speed or in a kind of "flash".

The witness thinks that it is impossible that it was "a laser or something", because he was in the mountain where he lived, with a good view to the sky at night, and no cities around.

Hello,

I contacts you following your page about ufo sightings.

Indeed year 2011, i am not sure about the dates.

Between midnight and 1:00 a.m., i saw an appearance, possible ufo.

I love to watch the stars at night, so that night, there was a red light in the sky, it did not move at first, so i thought it was Mars, but slowly it started to move, then it made a kind of zigzag from bottom to up sevral times but fast, then it went away fast in a kind of flash speed in straight line.

Impossible that it was a laser or something, i lived in the mountain of the pass of the DONON in Alsace. So good sight on the sky at night, and no cities around.

That's my little story. I do not know if this is going to help you, but, well.

Good week to you.
Regards [Initials].

Discussion:

The Donon is a pass in the Vosges mountains at about 1000 meters altitude.

An observation with similarities in the description was apparently made from Belmont, not dar from Le Donon, in 1996.

Evaluation:

Unidentified.
