ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Case of Vendenheim, on June 24, 2010:

Case number:

ALSACAT-2010-06-24-VENDENHEIM-1

Summary:

Someone apparently reported his observation by the web to the Alsatian ufology association SPICA. The date is June 24, 2010, and the place would be Vendenheim in the Bas-Rhin.

At 10:40 p.m. a "pulsating light" was reportedly seen by an unidentified witness telling that when he came out of a Vendenheim restaurant looking towards the southwest, he made a sighting similar to another - which other one is not specified .

What had surprised him then was the slow movement of this "light", which also appeared to have "pulses".

He would have looked at it for at least 20 minutes and its intensity decreased and then it totally faded.

A little late, he had taken a short video with his cell phone. He said he would try to publish it on the web the next days, planning to give the link.

Vendenheim (67) 06/24/2010

Coming out tonight 06/24/10 10:40 p.m. from a restaurant in Vendenheim looking towards the Southwest, I did, it seems to me, make a similar observation (see RNCSC note): description of the quasi equivalent phenomenon; what surprised me at the time, it is the slow movement of this "light", also appearing to have "pulses". I followed it for at least 20 minutes and its intensity decreased to completely fade away... despite having thought a bit late, I could make a little video with my mobile phone (so quality not fantastic...): I will try to place it on a host server tomorrow or Saturday, and give you the link then.

Interesting observation anyway...

Regards.

Note by RNCSC: we ignore what observation the witness refers to.

Discussion:

Map.

A light that "appears" to pulse makes me thinking strongly about a Chinese lantern. But the duration of 20 minutes is too long; these objects stay in the air for about 5 minutes, usually.

There is obviously little information here, I was unable to find the announced video and unable to find the observation that was said to be similar.

As for the strangeness, there is nothing. This could have been a planet, a star, a helicopter...

Evaluation:

Insufficient information, no reported strangeness.
