ALSACAT:

As its name suggests, ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Case of Vendenheim, on July 20, 2007:

Case number:

ALSACAT-2007-07-20-VENDENHEIM-1

Summary:

In a listing of UFO sighting reports in the Haut-Rhin on their website, the Alsatian ufology association SPICA noted that on Friday, July 20, 2007, at 11:10 p.m. in Vendenheim, something "Circular, round or disk (2D)" of white color was seen, the case being solved as "artificial light reflection (Projector)".

Later, I found a text published on the site of "SPICA" in which it is explained that two of their investigators had gone on the spot and found the presence of lights in the sky coming from discotheque projectors used for a show. They also noted the presence of the show "Ill aux Lumières" that I gave as an explanation.

07/20/2007 Vendenheim (67)

To verify the hypothesis of a skyroser, I went with Marie Paule Morgenthaler on the Stephansberg (Nordheim). This place allows to observe both Strasbourg and the sector of Vendenheim, almost until Brumath.

At 10:45 p.m., local time, a bright spot appeared in the sky, above Strasbourg. This spot made an elliptical tour. This circular tour was not, apparently, perfectly elliptical, but seemed to have moments when it was closer to the center, optical effect or due to the clouds that on the evening of 27, were scattered, unlike the evening of 20 where they were almost total.

After a few moments we were able to observe 3 luminous spots, then 2 spots that even crossed each other in the sky. These circles circled over Strasbourg and went very far to the north and west of Strasbourg, not too far south of Strasbourg.

What could disturb the witnesses compared to the skyroser of discotheques, is that this animation "Ill with the lights" used several skyroser which turned very quickly in the sky, and in an irregular manner, and this only a few times.

Unlike discos skyroser that rotate regularly, which are either a beam or multiple beams, and this for hours and a slower speed. Moreover, the multiple beams of the discotheque skyrosers all turn in the same direction and never cross each other.

What explains the fact that the skyrosers went further north and west is that the animation was not intended to illuminate the sky, but certainly for light effects close to the spectators.

Discussion:

The explanation, noted by the SPICA group, is likely to be related to this:

Vendenheim is at 10 kilometers in straight line from the center of Strasbourg.

Evaluation:

Skytracers.
