On November 1, 2008, on the web ufology forum "Les Mystères des OVNIS", domi67, saying he is from the Bas-Rhin, aged 53, top executive in banking, astronomy and mountaineering enthusiast, posted his testimony about his observation around 1978 or the late 1970's, around 8:30 p.m., of a luminous phenomenon in Niederbronn-les-Bains, Bas-Rhin.
He was quietly trying to photograph stars with his 400 mm, his OM2 mounted on a solid tripod, when he observed in the sky above the wasembourg three balls of light moving quite slowly in the sky to the northeast direction.
He describes his "impression" as rather like it was "three balls floating in icy silence," noting a strange feeling when he saw them.
He watched it with the naked eye as well as with the 400 mm; which did not reveal any further details but confirmed the ball shape.
At one time, the three balls made a definite turn at a perfectly right angle; which is impossible for a human plane, as confirmed to him by a jet fighter pilot friend. They disappeared a few minutes later, the observation lasting some minutes, or about 5 minutes.
He regrets that he was using slow film only to capture the phenomenon, so that the only two pictures he took are too vague.
He told about his experience to his parents who scoffed. The next day there was less mockery because the neighbor woman had confirmed his story, as she had seen the same thing from her garden.
He said he later had the chance to observe several luminous phenomena in the sky. Some were satellites, but in two cases, one with two other witnesses and the second with one other witness, acceleration and escape velocity were well beyond anything a human device is capable of. He would give some details when asked about these 2 other sightings.

Around 08:30 p.m., I was quietly taking pictures of stars with my 400mm on my OM2 mounted on a strong camera feet. The place is Niederbronn in the Bas Rhin. I observed in the sky overlooking the wasembourg three luminous balls moving rather slowly in the sky with the northeast as direction. If I have to describe the feeling I would rather say "three balls floating in an ice-cold silence" in any case a strange feeling when I saw them. The observation was made both with the naked eye than with the 400 mm which did not reveal further details but confirmed the ball shape. At one time the three balls made a very sharp turn at a perfectly straight angle, which is impossible for a human plane (confirmed by a buddy fighter pilot). Then they disappeared a few moments later. This lasted a few minutes (5). I unfortunately had a too slow film to freeze the movement so the only two pictures taken are too vague. When I told my parents to the event it was a mockery... It wasn't anymore the next day because the neighbour confirmed my tale she had seen the same thing from her garden. Meanwhile I had the opportunity to observe several luminous phenomena in the sky. Some were satellites, but nevertheless for two cases (one with two other witnesses and the other with one witness) the acceleration and escape speed were well beyond anything a human device is able of. Regards. ASTRID Yes of course both took place in the north of Alsace 8 years ago (Gumbrechtshoffen) and 16 years ago 5Neunhoffen). In both cases, observation of a luminous object that moves on a straight line in the sky (north south and north east south west). Clear sky. Fast speed at first, but that could be achieved by a jet plane. Note the absence of noise. Then quasi immediate acceleration at a speed which is significantly greater than Mach 3 (silently of course). In both cases the witnesses who were with me have also saw the scene. Regards Dominique |

Rereading myself a small detail, when I write very substantially greater than Mach 3 it means at least mach 10 (for one case we made an assessment based on measurements of distances made the next day and fonctioin of the timing) that is faster than an x15. |

I do not know what this witness might have seen. The strangeness does not seem very hight, and the data is sparse.
