ACUFO:

ACUFO is my comprehensive catalog of cases of encounters between aircraft and UFOs, whether they are “explained” or “unexplained”.

The ACUFO catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file.

Case number:

ACUFO-1944-00-00-EUROPE-4

Summary:

About 2020, the following image started to appear on various Websites, claiming it shows "Foo-Fighters" either over Europe, or over Germany. Some of the Website used it to illsutrate their low-quality pages about the "Foo-Fighters" of WW II, other Websites used it in articles claiming the "Foo-Fighters" were flying saucers built by the nazi engineers.

Image.

In 2022, it appeared in a French UFO book claiming it shows "luminous balls" flying with U.S. bombers in December 1944.

The caption is:

Foo-fighters above Germany.

This website, claming that the "Foo-Fighters" were built by the Germans, claims just above this image:

German air weapon

The fact is that foo fighters were German-built flying weapons of war. The fact is that they were the very first modern UFOs. And finally, the fact is the government of the United States has known this all along and kept these facts from public for all these years.

Unknown luminous balls flying with a formation of American bombers in December 1944.

Aircraft information:

The U.S. B-17 “Flying Fortress” was a heavy bomber fitted with five 7.62 machine guns for its defense against enemy fighter planes.

Map.

The real image is from the U.S. Army Air Forces, and shows B-17 "Flying Fortresses" of the U.S. Eighth Air Force pass through a flak-filled sky on a raid over Berlin on March 6, 1944.

There was no known report of any Foo-fighter or UFO seen during this air raid.

As anyone can see, there is no "foo-fighter" on the original image; which means that some people added them. It seems this was done or neo-nazi propaganda purposes, and then some "UFO buffs" just reproduced it without any fact checking.

Image.

The original image started to be published on the Web around 2016 - 2017, on several image banks Websites. It was soon re-used as illustration for several articles about World War II on various Web media, without changes. Then in the 2020 - 2022, it was altered by someone who added what he thought would look like "Foo-Fighters", and it spread on credulous "UFO Websites", including neo-nazi propaganda websites.

Evaluation:

Modern hoaxed photograph.
