The newspaper Le Berry Républicain for October 14, 1954, reported that "in recent days," in La Couy (on the road to Lignières, about ten kilometers from Saint-Amand), a former café owner, Mr. Soulat, who was taking his hunting dog to the kennel at around 8:45 p.m., saw "a luminous cigar" moving horizontally in the sky. Mr. Soulat reported that this "cigar" projected "a bright glow at its base."
Mr. Soulat called his wife, who was also able to observe "the craft," which "disappeared" after a few minutes.
The Soulat couple added that this craft had "the shape of a sugar loaf."

Recently, in La Couy (Lignères road, about ten kilometers from Saint-Amand), a former cafe owner, Mr. Soulat, while leading his hunting dog to the kennel, saw "a luminous cigar" moving horizontally across the sky. This cigar, at its base, projected, according to Mr. Soulat, a bright glow.
Having called Mrs. Soulat, she was able to observe the craft. After a few minutes, it disappeared.
It was around 8:45 p.m.
The craft, according to the Soulats, was shaped like a sugar loaf.

La Couy has become a district of Marçais.
Unfortunately, the newspaper does not tell us whether the craft in question was noisy or silent; from this simple omission, it follows that a helicopter cannot be ruled out.
