It may seem totally absurd that someone, or several people, seeing the Moon, would think it is an extraterrestrial spaceship or probe, or an unidentified flying object.
I show that this is almost true, but that this kind of misintepretation does sometimes occur, when some particular factors make the moon almost unrecoconisable, expecially when these factors ccorr simultaneously. I show that these factors are, mainly:
In each case file presented here, the explanation by the Moon is justified by facts and arguments, for example related to the position of the Moon being in the direction and at the apparant height where the witness(es) said the UFO (or in those days, the "flying saucer" or "unknown craft" or "flying cigar" was. The presented case file can be read by clicking on the links.
For this or that case, the explanation by the Moon may be certain, probable, or just possible. As many cases have been poorly documented at the time, there is a number of cases where no explanation appears to be better than another, and of course, among these cases, some may or may not be explained by the Moon; but it will probably never be confirmed or denied. Such cases are not listed here, they will be listed in a section about cases whete the information is so meager that several explanations are possible and none is better than the other. However for statistical reason, these cases will be counted here.
