October 9, 1954, Boulogne-sur-Mer, Pas-de-Calais:

Reference number for this case: 9-Oct-54-Boulogne-sur-Mer. Thank you for including this reference number in any correspondence with me regarding this case.

Summary:

The regional newspaper Nord-Matin, in the local issue of Calais for October 10, 1954, showed a photo supposedly taken "in the presence of witnesses", "place Dalton" - which is in the city of Boulogne-sur-Mer.

The newspaper indicated that the photo - visible in file below - was not edited, that one can vaguely see at the height of the roofs a bright halo, and wrote:

I was upset to be one of the few people who didn't see a saucer. This anomaly is now fixed. - Grandpa Gus.

Then, a note from the editors said that it is in fact a photo taken through a window, and that the "reflection is none other than the projection of a neon lamp."

"FLYING SAUCER"
ON DALTON SQUARE

This photo was taken last night, in the presence of witnesses, Place Dalton. The photo is not edited. One can vaguely distinguish at the height of the roofs, a luminous halo. I was annoyed to be one of the few people who hadn't seen a saucer. This anomaly is now fixed. - Grandpa Gus.

Editors' note: It is actually a photo taken through a window. The reflection is nothing else than the projection of a neon lamp.

(Nord-Matin Phot.)

Explanations:

Negative case, reflection on photograph.

The poorly written article is suppsoded to be "educating" about phtographic anomalies interpreted as flying saucers.2
