Summary:

A letter filed and dated October 27, 1970, in the archive of the ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit, reports an "abduction" that took place in Melle in the Deux-Sèvres department on October 5, 1954.

The file states that an "employee" (?) saw "a cigar-shaped object," then two small beings. Shortly afterward, it was learned that another "cigar" had landed near Melle, that two C.R.S. officers stopped and approached the craft, that the doors of the craft opened, and that there was a "powerful suction" which pulled the two men inside, after which the "cigar" immediately took off.

In MELLE (Deux-Sèvres) an abduction.

On Oct 5 an employee sees a cigar-shaped object, then two small beings. Shortly after, it is learned that another cigar-shaped object landed near MELLE. 2 C.R.S. stop and approach the craft, the doors open, a powerful suction pulls the 2 men inside, and the cigar takes off immediately.

Explanations:

Map.

The story told here is as astonishing as it is hardly credible: I do not know where it came from, the details are missing, no time, no precise location (Melle is a town, so it is unlikely that this happened right in the middle of it), etc.

It seems to me that the disappearance of two C.R.S. officers swallowed by a "flying cigar" would have caused an uproar at the time, in the context of the great saucers flap, with newspapers reporting on the most diverse sightings, sometimes with skepticism, but certainly not with any intention of "hushing up" anything.

I therefore grant no credibility to this "previously unpublished" account, for which I have found no corroboration whatsoever, nor the slightest mention in the press of the time or in ufological literature.
