Summary:

In the 2000s, French ufologist Luc Chastan noted in his database of UFO sightings, on the Web, that in the Haute-Savoie department, in Seyssel, on October 4, 1954 at 8:00 p.m., five people had observed with binoculars a kind of star that changed from orange to light green and light yellow above Mount Sion. It was moving to the left. The witnesses used the bell tower of Seyssel to observe the stops and movements of the object.

Luc Chastan indicated that this comes from the newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré - he did not give the date of publication.

Update - September 16, 2021:

Map.

The viewing direction is 56°. In this direction within a few degrees, at 8 p.m. on October 4, 1954 from Seyssel, there are a few faint stars, notably Algol.

But at 30° was Capella, much brighter than the others, an occasional source of astronomical misinterpretations. It was at the elevation of 12°, which allows for apparent sparkling and color change effects.
