Summary:

In his 1999 book "Le Problème de la Vie Extraterreste", the ufologist Michel Jeantheau gave an article he found in the regional newspaper La Haute-Marne Libérée for September 27, 1954, about what he wonders wether it would be an "auditory UFO" instead of a "visual UFO":

Saturday morning untimely sirens were heard.

Where did their high tones come from?

One was suggesting from Marnaval.

Information taken from each other, one really knew nothing about it, just as we did not know the origin of the muffled explosions of which some of our fellow citizens claimed to have picked up the waves.

Maybe there was flying saucer in the air? Still, it would be good to remember that these mysterious craft go, by unanimous opinion, without making the slightest noise...
