Summary:

In the ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit #320 for September 1993, and in his 1997 book on the 1954 French wave, ufologist and author Jean Sider states that he learned from an article in the newspaper La Charente Libre, of Angoulème, for October 18, 1954, page 3, that on October 15, 1954, at 10:00 p.m. in Confolens in the Charente department, Mr. Reyrat, carpenter and former deputy mayor, "whose sincerity cannot be questioned," according to the newspaper, was out to close his workshop near the cemetery.

He then saw an object, 3.5 meters in diameter, of intense luminosity, placed on the ground. He overcame his fear and wanted to approach the craft, inside which he heard a noise of scrap metal, but at his approach, the flying saucer "disappeared very quickly, rising vertically."

Overcoming his fear. M. Reyrat wanted to approach. He heard, coming from inside the craft, a noise of scrap metal. At his approach, the saucer disappeared very quickly, rising vertically.
